Short urban journeys, loading and unloading passengers, and vehicle hand-offs between household members all multiply the KEYLESS-GO button press count relative to a single daily commute.

The X166 start button is also positioned at a level that the driver's forearm can contact while reaching across the console — adding inadvertent wear that does not register as a press but still abrades the surface finish. This accelerates the rate at which the chrome ring develops fine scratches and the button face loses its lacquer.

Installation

Release the connector clip at the rear of the button. Remove the button from the console housing using the retention tabs. Insert the replacement, engage the tabs, and reconnect the plug. Approximately 10 to 15 minutes, no console removal.
