Fit this replacement seat sliding track rail cover to the front seats of your BMW 7 Series F01.

The seat rail cover runs the full length of the front seat's sliding track, concealing the metal rail, mounting hardware, and track recess between the seat base and the cabin floor. It is visible from outside the car every time a door opens — a detail that matters on a vehicle whose interior finish is its primary selling point. A cracked cover, a missing section, or a trim piece that has lifted at one end introduces an unfinished element into a cabin that was built to a higher standard than almost any other production BMW of its era.

Compatible BMW Models

BMW 7 Series F01 (standard wheelbase) / F02 (long wheelbase) — 2008 to 2015

Covers 730i, 740i, 750i, 760i, 730d, 740d, 750d, ActiveHybrid 7 and all Li long-wheelbase variants across rear-wheel drive and xDrive configurations.

Clip layout and trim colour vary between seat specifications — comfort seat, extended comfort seat, and Individual seat programmes were each fitted with different rail cover profiles. Compare your existing cover against the product images before ordering.

Why This Trim Fails on the F01

The F01 generation is now between ten and seventeen years old. At that age, the original seat rail covers are dealing with two overlapping failure modes: mechanical fatigue from years of foot traffic, and material degradation from the plastic itself.

The cover's retention clips were sized for new plastic — a material with a defined flex modulus that allows the clip to spring back after each loading cycle. Aged plastic loses that elasticity. The clip deforms rather than springing back, the cover begins to rock, and the leading edge catches the next foot that crosses it. The crack that follows is typically sudden rather than gradual, splitting the cover across its width at the first clip position.

On the F01 in particular, rear passenger movement intensifies this loading pattern. The 7 Series attracts a driven-passenger use case more than any other BMW model — owners in the rear, frequent ingress and egress, briefcases and luggage swung through the door aperture. The front seat covers absorb the contact from rear passengers stepping through and from items being placed on the rear floor, and the driver's side cover takes that loading daily on top of the driver's own entry and exit.

What an Exposed Rail Looks Like in the F01 Cabin

The F01's interior was offered in some of BMW's most demanding finish levels: Nappa leather as standard on higher specifications, Merino leather on Individual builds, and a range of fine wood and aluminium trim surfaces. The contrast between those surfaces and a bare metal seat rail is immediate and difficult to ignore.

The exposed track runs from beneath the seat base to the door sill — directly in the sightline of a rear passenger looking forward, and directly underfoot for anyone entering the vehicle. The track channel collects whatever falls to the floor: fine gravel, dust, dropped items. In light interior configurations such as Ivory White or Champagne, the dark metal and accumulated debris in the channel become the first thing a passenger notices on entering the rear.

For a car that is frequently presented to clients, driven by a chauffeur service, or maintained for resale at the top of the used-car market, this is not a minor cosmetic issue.

What You Receive

A single seat rail cover for one side — order two to restore both front seat positions. Left and right covers are mirror images; specify which side when ordering. The cover is moulded to OEM slot dimensions with the correct clip spacing, surface grain, and colour to integrate with the surrounding floor and seat trim.

No adhesive. No seat removal. No electrical disconnection.

Installation

  1. Slide the front seat fully forward to expose the rear section of the rail.
  2. Remove any remnants of the old cover — broken clips, lifted sections — from the mounting points on the rail.
  3. Align the new cover over the rail with the retention clips positioned above the mounting apertures.
  4. Press firmly and evenly along the cover's length until each clip seats — each fixing point gives a distinct click.
  5. Return the seat to its normal position and check that both ends of the cover sit flush with the surrounding trim.

Under five minutes per side. No tools required.

Why Replace It

  • Correct fit for the BMW 7 Series F01/F02 (2008–2015) — all engine variants, wheelbase options, and drive configurations
  • Closes the exposed rail channel that accumulates debris and presents a raw metal edge at floor level
  • Restores the floor-level finish that the F01's flagship interior specification demands
  • OEM-matched clip geometry, surface grain, and colour — integrates cleanly with the surrounding trim
  • No-tool press fit in under five minutes per side
  • The right restoration detail for F01 owners maintaining a long-term car, preparing for resale, or returning a chauffeur-used example to proper condition
