1. Dashboard Front Panel Removal

1.1 Upper Air Vents

- Insert a plastic trim tool on the passenger side.

- Gently unclip the panel working toward the center vents

- Pull straight toward you.

- Disconnect all connectors (hazard light / locking).

1.2 Lower section

- Pry carefully under the climate control panel.

- Remove the trim cover.

- Unscrew the 2 lower screws and the 2 upper screws securing the head unit.

1.3 Complete Front Panel

- Pull the panel gently toward you.

- Disconnect any remaining connectors if needed.


2. Head Unit removal (NBT / CIC)

- Remove the 4 mounting screws.

- Pull the head unit out slowly.

- Lift the latch on the large connector — it will release on its own.

- Disconnect the original video cable (usually orange).

- Place the head unit on a soft cloth to protect it.


3. Screen removal

- Unscrew the 2 upper screws.

- Lift the screen.

- Disconnect the rear video connector.


4. Module preparation

4.1 Antenna

- Screw in firmly, but do not over-tighten.

4.2 DIP Switch Settings

- Configure according to:

Screen size: 6.5” or 8.8”

System type: CIC or NBT

⚠️ Incorrect settings will result in display errors.


5. Wiring & Connections

5.1 Video Connection (Critical Step)

- Connect the original screen cable → IN on the module.

- Connect the provided new cable → OUT from the module to the screen.-

- The module sits between the head unit and the screen.

5.2 Main Harness

Connection diagram:
Head Unit ⇄ Module ⇄ BMW Harness

1. Plug the module connector into the head unit.

2. Connect the BMW original harness to the module harness.

3. Close the locking levers. Keyed connectors prevent mistakes — it’s foolproof.

5.3 USB Cable

Two options:

- Simple exit in the center console

- OEM-style hidden routing. 

Needed for Android Auto, module setup, and charging.
Secure any unused cables neatly.


6. Pre-Reassembly Testing (Mandatory)

Reconnect the screen and head unit without screwing them in yet. Turn the ignition on and verify:

- Access to CarPlay / Android Auto (long press Menu or Back button)

- AUX source selection required for audio output

- Test music, navigation, and phone calls

- Test iDrive knob and voice control


7. Reassembly

Once testing is successful:

- Stow the module safely without pinching cables

- Screw the head unit and screen back in

- Reinstall the front panel

- Snap the air vents back into place. Press firmly but do not hit.


8. Module Usage

Apple CarPlay (Wireless)

1. Enable Bluetooth

2. Select the module

3. Allow connection

4. Confirm AUX is active. Subsequent connections are automatic.

Android Auto

- Connect via USB cable → Allow connection → Select AUX.

Mirroring

- Full smartphone screen duplication requires app installation on first launch.
