The overhead console on the W205 is positioned centrally in the headliner, within natural reach of both front occupants. On a C-Class used as a daily driver — motorway commutes, urban stop-start, school runs — the sunroof is opened and closed multiple times a day across every season. That consistent, repetitive use concentrates wear on a single button while the surrounding interior remains largely unmarked.

The surface coating degrades from repeated fingertip pressure and the lateral movement of pressing and holding to tilt or fully open the panel. The printed sunroof icon disappears first, followed by the button developing a smooth, low-feedback feel that offers no tactile confirmation of which position it is in — particularly frustrating when operating the roof without looking up.
