The GLK's elevated seating position puts the overhead console at a natural angle for the driver — close, accessible, and used without a second thought. In an SUV where the large glass roof is a major part of the car's appeal, the sunroof button is pressed on virtually every journey, making it one of the highest-contact points in the cabin.

The surface coating breaks down under years of repeated fingertip contact, combined with the higher interior temperatures an SUV greenhouse can generate through the roof glass itself. The printed icon disappears first, followed by the tactile resistance softening to the point where the button no longer gives clear confirmation of whether it has registered a press. On a compact SUV where the overhead panel is compact and highly visible, the contrast between a worn button and the rest of the interior is immediate.

The replacement addresses the roof control button cap and its seating interface within the overhead console housing.

The switch contact assembly, wiring, and panoramic roof motor electronics are completely unaffected. This is a cosmetic and tactile repair only. If the panoramic roof tilts and slides correctly but the button cap is worn, this is the correct fix.
