Unlike the steering wheel buttons, which degrade primarily through coating failure, the center console controls on the 92A take a different kind of beating.

These buttons are exposed to direct downward pressure from the driver's hand and wrist, spilled drinks, dust accumulation between the key gaps, and sun exposure through the side windows and sunroof. The combination of mechanical wear and surface degradation means the icons fade, the matte finish turns glossy, and the click response becomes inconsistent.

On higher-spec models with PASM, PDCC, or off-road packages, there are more buttons packed into the same console space, which means more surfaces degrading at the same rate.

Installation

The factory console buttons are held in by clip-in retention tabs that release with minimal force.

Use a thin plastic pry tool to carefully lever each button cap upward from the console housing. The old cap lifts away cleanly from the switch actuator underneath.

Position the replacement cap over the actuator, align the retention tabs, and press down until it clicks securely into place.

No dashboard disassembly and no console removal required. The full swap can be completed in 20 to 30 minutes depending on the number of buttons in your configuration.
