Installation Steps

---

Step 1 – Remove the Glove Box

- Open the glove box

- Remove all visible screws

- Carefully pull it out

- Disconnect any light or connector if present

This exposes the RNS 850 head unit

Step 2 – Remove Climate Control Panel

- Gently pry out the climate control module

 

 

- Disconnect wiring connectors

- Set it aside safely

Step 3 – Connect the Wiring Harness

- Disconnect factory connectors from the CD Changer

- Insert the module harness inline

- Match each connector between the CD Changer and Carplay Module, including LVDS Video connectors 

✅ No wire cutting
✅ Fully reversible installation

Step 4 – Activate AUX Mode

- Plug the provided OBD-labeled cable into the Carplay module and then to the car OBD port

- Access the hidden engineering menu on the RNS 850 by pressing CAR and SETUP buttons simultaneously for 6 secondes

- Enable AUX input in the engineering menu

This step is mandatory for the audio to work

- Once activated → remove the OBD cable (no longer needed)

- Enable AUX in the normal menu. You may need to press it multiple times for it to be enabled

Step 5 – Install the Module Unit

- Mount the module behind the glove box

Best practices:

- Add foam or felt to prevent rattling

- Ensure airflow (avoid overheating)

- Secure with zip ties or adhesive

Step 6 – Route USB & Antenna

- Route USB cable into glove box or center console

- Install Wi-Fi antenna in a hidden but open area

Step 7 – Reassemble Dashboard

- Reconnect the climate control module

- Reinstall glove box

- Tighten all screws

- Long press on the VOICE button (10 seconds) to restart the system

- The TRAFFIC button acts as “Back”

- The MENU button opens the CarPlay/Android Auto main menu

- The control knob lets you confirm, activate voice commands, or adjust volume
