The A3 occupies a unique position in the Audi lineup. It is compact enough to serve as a city car but refined enough to cover long motorway commutes. That dual role means the steering wheel controls accumulate input cycles at a rate that neither a pure urban runabout nor a dedicated highway cruiser would match alone.

Short urban trips generate constant volume adjustments, phone pickups, and navigation scrolling through congested streets. Motorway stints add cruise control activation, speed adjustments, and following distance changes across every junction. The modules rarely get a break.

The original switch module attaches to each steering wheel spoke via snap-fit clips and a single plug connector.

Press the release tabs on the old module and slide it off the spoke. Pull the harness plug straight out from the back of the unit.

Connect the new module's plug into the same harness socket. Position the module on the spoke and press down until every clip engages securely.
